‘Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…’ Romans 12:2
Will is director of Mission and Evangelism at Cranmer Hall, having been appointed in the summer of 2019. He teaches Mission and Evangelism, Missional Entrepreneurship, as well as an MA in Missional Ecclesiology.
Will studied Theology at St Andrews (2004-2008) before an MA in Theological Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. He completed his DThM whist training for ordination, at Cranmer Hall (2013-2016). Before starting ordination training Will was a secondary school teacher in Kent. He served his curacy at Trinity Church Nottingham, a new city centre resource church in Nottingham, where he moved with the planting team led by Jonny and Amy Hughes. In the three years of curacy he was also lead teacher on the Diocesan Younger Leadership College, and as part of the Diocese year-long Discipleship Course.
Will’s doctoral thesis is entitled ‘Present in Every Place: The Church of England and the Parish Principle’, and explores the theological and practical implications of the Church of England’s commitment to grow new non-parochial churches. The work involved a qualitative study of four very different church of England churches in the Diocese of York.
Will is passionate about seeing God’s Kingdom break into communities through the prayer, vision and commitment of local churches. Alongside mission, Will’s research interests include Ecclesiology and Spirituality, with Bonhoeffer as a theological hero. Will is married to Vikki, and they have four children.
