C K Barrett Day Conference – Saturday 3 June 2017

John’s College is delighted to invite you to a day conference to celebrate the Centenary of C K Barrett and the launch of a new volume of sermons on June 3rd 2017, in Leech Hall, St John’s College, Durham.

Charles Kingsley Barrett FBA served as Professor of Divinity at Durham University for 24 years and wrote commentaries on the Acts of the Apostles, John, Romans, 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians.

An ordained Methodist minister, he also preached on a regular basis in the Darlington circuit of the Methodist Church and more widely.

The day will include a lecture by Dr Ben Witherington III on C K Barrett as a preacher and the launch of the book. It will also feature a roundtable discussion on the use of the Bible in preaching, with Revd Prof David Wilkinson, Dr Ben Witherington, Revd Ruth Gee (Chair of the Darlington District of the Methodist Church), Professor John Barclay (Lightfoot Professor of Divinity, Durham University), and Revd Dr Kate Bruce (Deputy Warden Cranmer Hall and Tutor in Homiletics).
