In the Beginning, God laughed… A Theology of Humour with Kate Bruce

Saturday 13 October, 9am-1pm, at Stockton Baptist Church, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1TE.

Does God laugh? Is the Bible funny? Why do Christians seem to be so humourless much of the time? Come along and explore how humour and faith fit together.

Kate Bruce was a secondary school English teacher in Yorkshire, and then trained for ministry, serving in Ripon and Durham. She has been chaplain to three of the Durham colleges, and her doctoral research explored the place of imagination in preaching. She was most recently Deputy Warden and taught preaching at Cranmer Hall, and is instrumental in the Durham Preaching Conferences, day conferences designed to inspire, support and enable preachers. Her current role is as a chaplain with the Royal Air Force. In her spare time Kate enjoys skiing, clay pigeon shooting, stand-up comedy – and chocolate.

Theology for Everyone aims to help ordinary Christians think biblically and relevantly about important and awesome topics to do with God and his world. It really is for everyone: you don’t need to have studied theology (or anything else!), or to have come before, or to come again (though we’d love it if you did!).
