St John’s College and Cranmer Hall are delighted to hear the news that one of our former Cranmer Hall tutors, Rev Dr Michael Volland, has been appointed as Principal of Ridley Hall, an Anglican theological college in Cambridge.
Michael was supported by the College in his doctorate here at Durham and was nurtured in his thinking and teaching as Director of Mission at Cranmer Hall. His appointment at Ridley strengthens a traditional friendship between Ridley and Cranmer, which is complemented by Durham validating the degrees of students at Ridley through the national Common Awards.
The Principal, Revd Prof David Wilkinson comments,
‘We are thrilled to hear of this appointment both for Michael and for Ridley Hall. It is wonderful to see how Cranmer is forming not just students for leadership but also tutors for senior leadership whether in Michael’s case or in Calvin Samuel’s post as Principal of London School of Theology or in Mark Tanner becoming the Bishop of Berwick’.
