New Michael Vasey MA Scholarships

We are delighted to offer two Michael Vasey MA Scholarships for students beginning the Durham MA in Theology and Ministry, delivered by Cranmer Hall within St John’s College, in September 2025.

The Michael Vasey MA Scholarships each carry a value of £6,000, paid towards the tuition fee. They are available to students taking the MA in full-time or part-time mode of study. If awarded to a part-time student, the scholarship will be proportioned out over the total length of study, and subject to an annual review confirming satisfactory completion of academic requirements.

The scholarships will be decided by the Cranmer Hall scholarships and bursaries panel, in line with the criteria below. In the event of insufficient interest, or applicants not meeting the criteria, no award will be made, and the remaining scholarship(s) will be offered the following year.

Criteria

Applicants should normally:

• demonstrate strong academic ability in prior study in theology or a related subject;

• hold an offer of a place on the MA in Theology & Ministry;

• show in a statement of intent their plan to focus on Anglican Studies and/or Liturgy (in line with the research and teaching interests of Michael Vasey) by:

• • taking one relevant elective module (e.g. Anglican Theology in Context, Liturgy & Sacramentality, Studying Contemporary Worship)

• • using one core component (the core module Theological & Practical Reflection on Mission & Ministry, or the dissertation) to address a topic within Anglican Studies and/or Liturgy
