‘Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…’ Romans 12:2
Lizzie is a pastoral tutor and Lecturer in Old Testament, having joined the team at the start of 2022. She teaches modules on the Hebrew Bible and Biblical Hebrew, and oversees the development of Cranmer Hall’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion agenda.
Before coming to Cranmer, Lizzie has worked variously as an English teacher in China, for the charity CPAS, and for a Christian community in London.
Lizzie’s doctoral research investigated the subject of loneliness in the Hebrew Bible, and her current research interests include biblical lament and trauma-informed biblical hermeneutics, but she is not as miserable as this makes her sound! She is passionate about making the Old Testament as interesting and accessible as possible, and enjoys enabling others to explore connections between different biblical texts, and between these texts and contemporary life.
When not trying to persuade anyone who makes the mistake of standing still long enough near her to learn Hebrew, she enjoys reading novels, hiking, going on bike rides, and learning ancient languages.
