Revd Canon Dr Emma Parker

Emma sensed God calling her to full time mission and ministry when she was sixteen, and having explored different forms of vocation, and having spent some time teaching theology at an Anglican Seminary in Zambia, she was ordained ten years later in Durham Diocese. During parish ministry Emma became passionate about exploring the different dimensions of poverty and how this interacts with mission, as well as how to enable children to grow as disciples and to grow in their own vocations. In 2018 Emma was appointed as the Deputy Warden of Cranmer Hall and lectures in five areas: preaching, pastoral care, spirituality, New Testament (Paul) and growing faith in children and young people. As Deputy Warden she helps to lead the life and worship of Cranmer Hall, along with the Warden and Academic Dean.

Her PhD explored the importance of outsiders to the identity and mission of the early Pauline communities, and this will soon be published by the Library of New Testament Studies. She has also contributed bible reflections for this year’s Reflections for Daily Prayer: Advent 2023 – Advent 2024.

Emma loves running, spending time with her family, walking her two dogs and gardening.

Emma may be contacted by email on cran.depwarden@durham.ac.uk
