Revd Sarah Strand

As Dean of Anglican Formation, Sarah has responsibility for the formation of Church of England ordinands and a brief to develop the range and modes of training that Cranmer offers. Together with the senior leadership team she has responsibility for Church of England and Free Church training, independent students, and our academic programmes.  Sarah also oversees the worshipping life of Cranmer Hall and is leader of the Growing Faith Learning Hub, a dedicated research and training centre exploring the theological questions which underpin ministry and mission with children and young people.

Born and raised in North Yorkshire, Sarah trained for ministry at Cranmer Hall. She was ordained in York Minster, serving first as assistant curate at Stokesley Parish Church and then at Christ Church, Coatham and All Saints, Dormanstown in Redcar. She came to Cranmer in 2017 as a tutor and became Dean of Anglican Formation in 2024. Sarah teaches modules on Theological Reflection, Pastoral Care, Conflict Transformation and Growing Faith. She is also currently working on her PhD, exploring how children under 7 encounter God through reading Scripture in their family context.

Sarah is married to Matt and they have two children.

Amongst other things, Sarah loves the beach, reading novels, sewing and sharing her faith with others.
