David Wilkinson is Principal of St John’s College, in which Cranmer Hall is situated. He is also a lecturer in the Department of Theology and Religion.

He teaches preaching and apologetics and contributes to a range of other courses.

He holds PhDs in both theoretical astrophysics and systematic theology. His current work involves the relationship of the Christian faith to contemporary culture, from science to pop culture. He also has current interests in the media, preaching, missiology and Christian communication.

He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day and travels widely to speak and broadcast on the relationship of science and faith. He is in high demand worldwide as a preacher and Bible teacher.

He is author and co-author of a number of books concerning science and the Christian faith including God, Time and Stephen Hawking (Monarch, 2001) and God, Stephen Hawking and the Multiverse: What Hawking Said and Why It Matters (SPCK, 2020).

In addition he has written on the spirituality in contemporary cinema in The Power of the Force: The Spirituality of the Star Wars Films (Lion, 2000), on the Christian doctrine of holiness for a new generation in A Holiness of the Heart (Monarch, 2000) and an exposition of the biblical themes of creation in Creation (IVP, 2002).

He is a Council member of Evangelical Alliance.
