Appointment of new Tutor at Cranmer Hall

We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Sarah Strand as our new part-time tutor.

The interview panel and the students who met Sarah were impressed with her pastoral, theological and team working skills, all of which are rooted in a disciplined, prayerful and mature faith. She expressed a clear calling to this role and demonstrated a real passion for training church leaders for the future.

Sarah is a Cranmer alumni, having completed an MA in Theology and Ministry in 2014. She lives in Redcar and is currently finishing a part-time curacy, having also served as a hospital chaplain during IME2. She is married to Matt who is Vicar of Kirkleatham and they are parents to Zachary, who has just turned one.

The Revd Dr Philip Plyming, Warden of Cranmer Hall said:
“As a young, ordained woman, Sarah will bring a new dynamic and a fresh perspective to the important role of supporting ordinands in their training in the Church of England. Sarah has exceptional pastoral and missional gifts and I am really looking forward to welcoming her to the tutorial team at Cranmer Hall.”

Sarah responded: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the tutorial team and returning to Cranmer Hall, a place which holds so many special memories from my time as an ordinand. I am passionate about training and equipping ordinands to fulfil their God-given potential and lead the church through the challenges of the coming generations and I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be part of that process at Cranmer.”

We look forward to welcoming Sarah to the team in October.
