Helen Gheorghiu Gould is an Anglican priest. She trained with St Mellitus College in the Diocese of Chelmsford. After curacy, Helen was drawn into Interim Ministry, leading healing and re-visioning following parish breakdown as part of the Turnaround Project in the Diocese of Chelmsford.
Helen served as Interim Ministry and Vacancy Development in the Diocese of Chelmsford from 2015-2021 and developed training and a resource hub for Interim Ministry (www.interimministry.org.uk) She served in the Church in Wales as a Transition Minister in both multi-parish rural churches and challenging urban settings facing multiple deprivation.
For ten years, Helen ran Creative Exchange – a charity working with arts and culture in international and community development. There are strong links between IM/Transition and participatory community development - listening to where God is leading us together through the Holy Spirit to new life and growth.
Prior to ordination, Helen served as parish development worker developing a community café and art project at a church in East London, which won a Government ‘Near Neighbours’ award. She previously worked as a print journalist at The Stage, as Editor at the National Campaign for the Arts and in regional and national newspapers. Helen writes contemplative theology books for the imprint Lone Marigold Books.
Helen lives in rural North Wales and is married to Sergiu Gheorghiu, a teacher, and they have 3 adult children, Theo, Luc and Isabela, all of whom are bi-lingual. Horses are a passion and the family shows ridden Welsh ponies and cobs. Helen is a life-long Bruce Springsteen fan!
