International Students
As a vibrant and diverse Christian community, Cranmer Hall loves to welcome students and visitors from around the world.
Cranmer Hall is committed to learning from and serving the global church. The Christian church is a global phenomenon, and our life and study is enriched by links with our brothers and sisters from other countries and cultures. One way in which that happens is when international students come to live, worship, and study with us. As Durham University awards, all of our full-time degree programmes are open to international students including those who need a student visa in order to study. For the MA and DThM, if you don’t plan to live in the UK whilst studying you can travel to Durham to access block teaching and residentials under a standard visitor visa.
Here's what students are saying...

"We have people that have travelled across the world to be here and to study here, and they all come together with their diversity, with their differences and their views, and we have a productive shared conversation about theology and ministry in the church today."
Revd Dr Josh Cockayne, Academic Dean

"I am deeply grateful for the way that the Cranmer community welcomed me (an American, Presbyterian) into the fold."
Courtney Vereide, 2023 MATM Alum

“I am grateful for the leadership formation that took place in my years doing the Doctor of Theology and Ministry (DThM) at Cranmer Hall."
Dr Glenn Packiam, 2018 DThM Alum
Admissions
International students should apply directly to our programmes using the usual routes. You may be required to show proof of your level of English through an IELTS test or similar. On successful offer of a place, Durham University’s International Office will issue a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) which enables you to apply for the relevant category of visa. We encourage you to start the process as early as possible to allow for completion of all of these stages. If you have any queries please contact our Admissions Secretary.
Fees and funding
The international fees for our programmes are available on request from our Admissions Secretary. You will also need to factor in the costs of living and transport. We have generous international bursaries available, including a Majority World Bursary, in order to help with the costs of studying in the UK. We don’t want finances to be a barrier so please get in touch to see how we can help.
