The Lydia Centre

The Lydia Centre is space to explore and develop research opportunities with and about children and young people. This research will be used to raise the profile of children’s and youth ministry in the north, as well as support training and developing practice for the local church.

The Lydia Centre’s vision is to develop research in children’s, youth and families’ ministry at Cranmer Hall which is:

-         Theologically Rigorous

-         Practitioner Focussed

-         Engages with the marginalised

-         Serves the North-East and beyond

To ensure the Lydia Centre develops and retains a specific voice in the Children’s and young people’s (CYP) Research space, we will prioritise research which highlights the experience of the child, young person, and church in the north of England. Our particular priorities for research will be:

- CYP ministry in rural areas.

- CYP ministry in rural and urban areas of deprivation.

- Resourcing institutional approaches to supporting CYP

All research will have a significant focus on developing praxis, both of practitioners and of the local church. When exploring research projects, this will be a significant deciding factor.
