Study the Postgrad Certificate

The PG Certificate is a stand-alone qualification or can serve as an entry route into the MA. It is designed for those who want to move into postgraduate study slowly or who for other reasons may only have 1 year to commit to part-time study. If you don’t meet the full entry criteria for the MA, we may still be able to offer you the Certificate as a foundation to go further, so please ask.  Also, this is an ideal opportunity for those who want some resourcing for continuing professional development if there are two modules that are of particular interest.

Entry requirements

For entry requirements, structure and modules offered, see the MA page.

Even if you’re not sure you meet the entry requirements, do get in touch for a conversation!

Accessibility

We want to support you if you’re already in ministry or considering it, whether you have a background in theology or whether you would like to discover what theological study is like. There are several ways we make the programme as accessible as possible!

  • Full-time or part-time study, from 12 months through 3 years
  • In-person or online access: our teaching and learning is ‘live’, which students can access in-person in our state-of-the-art teaching spaces in the World Heritage Site, or online for those studying at a distance.
  • Weekly and block teaching: some modules are offered on a weekly basis across 16 weeks and others are delivered in two blocks of 2.5 days intensive study.
  • Standalone modules are available for those who want to see what theological study is like without committing to a programme.

For more details on admissions, fees and bursaries, email us at cranmer.admissions@durham.ac.uk. If you specific questions about the programme more broadly speaking, you can contact the MA Director of Studies, Dr Cindy Brown, at cynthia.b.brown@durham.ac.uk
