Revd Canon Dr Emma L Parker

Associate Tutor

Revd Canon Dr Emma L Parker

Emma is originally from the North East and, although she has spent many time visiting, volunteering and living in different areas of the UK and the world (Australia, Israel, Lourdes, Texas, Tanzania, Lesotho and Zambia), in 2024 she found God calling her to serve in the church in which she was baptised as a child! Emma is now the vicar of a church in Sunderland and is enjoying seeing the new things God is doing. Before this, she served at Cranmer Hall as the Deputy Warden, and lectured in Pastoral Care, Preaching, Spirituality and Discipleship, and created a new module looking at nurturing faith in children and young people. And before this, she served in a variety of parishes across the North East, mainly in former industrial and colliery villages.

She has published a couple of books: The Importance of Outsiders to Pauline Communities: Opinion, Reputation and Mission, and with Sarah Strand, Growing Together in Faith: Thinking Theologically about Ministry with Children and Teenagers. She often contributes to Reflections for Daily Prayer.

Emma is married to James and they have one wonderful daughter and a very affectionate red setter. She loves to run, read, walk by the sea, spend time with family and, on rare occasions, tries to bake.
