Paul is the Director of Undergraduate Studies and lectures in Christian Doctrine. Before starting at Cranmer in September 2014, he was a curate in St Albans, a Team Vicar in South Staffordshire (Lichfield Diocese) and chaplain at two other colleges in Durham University. He trained originally as a historian, gaining a PhD in 1996 in 16th Century Low Countries History. His current interest is the understanding of the fatherhood of God in the work of the Social Trinitarians.
