Cranmer Hall is delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Dr Tim Carter as Lecturer in Biblical Studies and Preaching. Tim will join the tutorial team at Cranmer Hall, teaching and supervising New Testament, Preaching, and biblical languages. He will also be involved in the mentoring and formation of those preparing for various forms of ministry. Tim is currently Senior Pastor of Brighton Road Baptist Church in Horsham and Visiting Lecturer at London School of Theology. It is anticipated that Tim will move to Durham and take up post in January 2025.
The Revd Dr Nick Moore, Warden of Cranmer Hall, said: ‘We are thrilled to have appointed Tim to this role. As a pastor-scholar he comes with a wealth of ministry and leadership experience combined with a strong record of engagement and activity within the academy. This role underscores Cranmer’s firm commitment to biblical studies including the biblical languages, and to the faithful preaching of Scripture, as essential for the renewal of the church in our day. We look forward to Tim joining the team.’
The Dean of Anglican Formation, the Revd Sarah Strand, commented: ‘We’re delighted Tim will be joining the tutorial team. He brings a passion for teaching rooted in his pastoral and ministerial experience which will enrich both the formational and academic life of Cranmer Hall. We look forward to welcoming Tim and Sue to the Cranmer community in the New Year.’
As he prepares to take up post, Tim reflected: ‘I am very excited at the prospect of joining Cranmer and being part of an evangelical community which celebrates diversity – this is close to my heart. And to have the privilege of teaching Preaching and Biblical Studies, two subjects which I feel passionately about, this is amazing too. This appointment provides an opportunity for me to integrate nearly 40 years of pastoral ministry with the academic side of my calling, and to do so in Durham as well… Wow – God is good!’
