Forming Christlike Leaders

A vibrant and diverse evangelical Christian community rooted in Durham and the North East.

About us and our vision

Cranmer Hall is a vibrant and diverse Christian community forming Christlike leaders for today’s church through transformational learning.

We cherish our rich Anglican and Evangelical tradition, our beautiful North East England context, and our world-class Durham University setting as part of St John’s College.

Academic Study

Cranmer Hall offers a wide range of high-quality academic awards delivered through Common Awards, the national validation framework for theological and ministerial education, based at the world-leading Durham University. We place particular emphasis on shaping programmes to meet the individual needs of each student.

Training for Ministry

Cranmer Hall seeks to form and equip Christlike missional leaders who serve by connecting church, theology, and the world.  Faithful to its founding purpose, Cranmer continues to prepare people for ministry across a wide range of contexts in order to serve today’s church.

“We have exceptional students who are passionate about ministry and eager to learn and grow. Each year, as we send them into ministry across the region, the country, and the world, it fills me with real hope for this world.”

“The most amazing thing about Cranmer is the community. We are genuinely interested in each other and are eager to learn from one another.”

"The training I received at Cranmer prepared me in so many ways for the complexities of leading. The skills of doing thick situational analysis paired with rich theological reflection are employed on a regular basis as I try to discern how to lead in divisive cultural moments and contested spaces."
