Theology for Everyone Saturday 14 July, the Cross and the Crown: Pain and Suffering under a Good God

The Cross and the Crown: Pain and Suffering under a Good God with Sally Nelson, St Hild College.

Saturday 14 July, 9am-1pm, at Stockton Baptist Church, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1TE.

If God is so good, why all the pain? Essential thinking about an important question. Come and think deeply with us about how suffering fits in to a Christian worldview – and discover where God is in the messy and painful bits of life. This session is ideal for any and every Christian and will help you think both deeply and practically about an inescapable feature of the world we live in.

Sally Nelson is a Baptist minister, and is on the staff of St Hild College. She studied chemistry before completing a PhD on narrative and suffering, teaches Christian doctrine and pastoral care, and is interested in the theology of disability. Sally was formerly the non-stipendiary pastor of a small church whose premises are a secondhand bookshop. Sally edits Scripture Union’s Encounter with God and the Baptist Ministers’ Journal.

Theology for Everyone aims to help ordinary Christians think biblically and relevantly about important and awesome topics to do with God and his world. It really is for everyone: you don’t need to have studied theology (or anything else!), or to have come last year, or to come to every session this year (though we’d love it if you did!).

Single session: £10 (waged) / £5 (unwaged)
